Zyban is used to stop smoking. It’s the first pill designed to help you stop smoking that doesn’t contain nicotine itself. Zyban Directions?
The prescription Zyban will help you feel ready to finally quit smoking. You will begin Zyban therapy, and then set a date in your second week to actually quit smoking. Most will take Zyban for approximately seven to twelve weeks. After breaking the smoking habit, continue taking Zyban for as long as your doctor tells you to.
Zyban is an oral pill. It can be taken with or without meals. Most prescriptions are for one to three tablets each day.
Never crush, chew, or split the tablets. Make sure to carefully follow the prescription instructions and ask your doctor about anything you don’t understand. Zyban should be used only as directed. Do not stop using Zyban once you feel well, or without your doctor’s permission. Zyban Side Effects?
There are several common side effects you can expect while taking Zyban. These include drowsiness, insomnia, nightmares, dry mouth, weakness, excitement, anxiety, and a change in weight or appetite.
Some symptoms can be a problem if they do not subside over time. Tell your doctor if you have any problems with blurred vision, headaches, sweating, a change in sex drive or ability, or difficulty with urination or constipation.
Serious possible side effects that should be reported immediately include fever, skin rashes, irregular heartbeat, tremors or seizures, loss of coordination, and a yellowing of the skin and eyes.

Zyban Warnings?
There are few reported problems with Zyban. However, large doses can cause some to have seizures. Zyban Drug Interactions?
If you are planning to take Zyban, you need to tell your physician if you are allergic to any drugs, especially Bupropion.
Additionally, your doctor should know about all other medications you have taken in the last two weeks, including over the counter products. This includes antihistamines; medication for high blood pressure, seizures, asthma, colds, or allergies; anticoagulants [warfarin (Coumadin)]; lithium (Eskalith, Lithobid); carbamazepine (Tegretol); cimetidine (Tagamet); levodopa (Sinemet, Larodopa); MAO inhibitors [phenelzine (Nardil), tranylcypromine (Parnate)]; methylphenidate (Ritalin); ritonavir (Norvir); sedatives; sleeping pills; thyroid medications; tranquilizers; and vitamins.
Zyban Missed Dose?
Those whose prescriptions are for more than one Zyban per day should take any forgotten doses as soon as they remember. This is true unless it is almost time for the next regularly scheduled dose, in which case you should just skip the missed dose and continue the usual dosage schedule.
Those whose prescriptions are for one Zyban tablet at bedtime should not try to make up missed doses. Never double dose – just continue with your next scheduled dose.
Zyban Storage?
Prescriptions are to be stored in their dispensed container and kept tightly sealed. Keep all medications out of the reach of your children. Zyban is best stored at room temperature and not in warm, moist places like bathrooms. Discard prescriptions you don’t need any more or which have expired. A pharmacist can help you know how to properly discard prescriptions that are not needed any longer.
Anything Else I Should Know About Zyban?
It’s a good idea to review your health insurance to see if your expenses for smoking cessation therapy can be covered. Not all plans will cover it, however. If your does not, it is still worth it to undergo Zyban therapy, since the long-term gain is better. The cost of Zyban compared to a pack a day expense of .095 per year is certainly clear.
