The anti-viral product is an effective tool for suppressing new outbreaks of genital herpes in adults who have normal immune systems. It does this by disrupting the duplication and spread of the herpes virus. |

Tests show that Valtrex is safe for most people. Your doctor should know if you have any kidney disease, allergies, or blood disorders. You should follow your scheduled dose times carefully. Do not try to make up missed doses of Valtrex. If you accidentally skip a dose, just resume your normal dosing schedule. |

Make sure Valtrex is stored at room temperature (59 - 77 degrees F or 15 - 25 degrees C) and away from sunlight and moisture. Medications such as Valtrex should always be stored away from children. |

Anything Else I Should Know About Valtrex? |

Valtrex prescriptions are given only to healthy adults. This medication does nothing to prevent the spread of herpes to others.
Valtrex for cold sores should take two doses at least twelve hours apart. Only take the medication for one day.
